Roles Defined
Roles are the basic categories that each user for a Drupal website falls into. Each role will contain a different set of permissions depending on what capabilities the administrators feel they should possess. After initial installation, Drupal contains two roles: anonymous and authenticated.
Anonymous users are those visitors to a website that do not have an account. Authenticated users are those visitors to a website that are logged in with active and authorised accounts.
To add another user role, just click on the ADD ROLE button on the user role page Administer > Roles.
To edit the permissions for each role, select the "edit permissions" option on the same Roles page. You will see a screen where you can select and deselect various permissions.
